November 28-29-30 the Janssen R&D Project Management Organization will hold its Biannual PM Meeting in New York. The organization chose Sikiliza Leo as their charity project. In collaboration with Dr Dorothy Ochola, on of the local leaders of Sikiliza Leo NGO Uganda, a selection of essential and useful items, will be assembled in shoe boxes as a Christmas gift for the Nursery School Children of Mulanda and Lwala. At a booth in the central hall of the venue the “Flying Doctors in Tororo” movie will be shown, and we will tell the story of Edith (the girl on the picture).

Edith was 6 years old when we met her. She was in very bad condition, her stomach was obstructed and swelling. The situation was getting worse day by day, no solution was in sight. Doctors tried different medications, but had no answer. Hilde did not want to give up on this. She took the little girl and her mother to a private doctor in Tororo, who made X-ray prints. With this information, and due to the connection of Dr Dorothy Ochola, we went to see a specialist in Kampala University Hospital. The specialist agreed to operate. Edith would need to have a stoma for 6 months and come to the Hospital once a week for control. We left Edith with her Aunt in the slums of Kampala. The Family and the Sikiliza Leo members in Kampala took very good care. Edith got better and the stoma was removed. Today Edith is a healthy beautiful girl attending Primary School in Mulanda.
